APS ALUMNI AZANIA STEWART PLAYING FOR ENGLAND IN THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2018
Azania Stewart made her Commonwealth Games debut on the Gold Coast this Easter competing as part of England women’s basketball team. She played a major role in helping the team to qualify for the final versus Australia and eventually winning a silver medal.
Azania Stewart attended APS from 2001-2007 winning the National Schools Basketball Cup in Yr10 and going unbeaten in five seasons of representing APS netball.She was also made history by being part of the first British women’s basketball team to appear at the Olympics at London 2012. Azania made her senior British team debut in 2009 after appearing at every age group level from 16. She now has over 40 Great Britain Caps.
She won a scholarship to the University of Florida, winning a series of awards and turned professional after 2012, playing for club sides in Spain, England, Australia, Hungary and Latvia.

What advice would you give to your teenage self? “You’re not going to make every basket or stop every player, so don’t stress it, move on to the next”
