u15 boys handball

Congratulations to our u15 boy’s handball team who retained the Haringey school’s handball competition for APS. APS finished top of their group having beaten Greig City and drawing with Park View and St Thomas More. This set up a final against Duke’s Academy. The game ended 0.0 in a very competitive contest with some excellent defending and goalkeeping from both sides. 5 minutes extra-time was played and Duke’s quickly took a 2.0 lead with 2 minutes to play. The boys showed excellent resilience and determination to dig deep and turn the game on it’s head. The game was tied with 30 seconds left through 2 quick goals from Matteo. With the game destined for a penalty shoot-out, Jaden found Charlie unmarked at the edge of the area and he calmly threw the ball into the bottom corner. They now advance to the London stages where they will represent Haringey. Hopefully they have similar success to last year’s Year 10 team that claimed a bronze medal in the London youth games.
