School Engagement Day 2019 Report

APS Cricketers enjoyed a wet, but fun day at the Marylebone Cricket Club who invited us to the 2019 Middlesex Schools Engagement Day on Tuesday 4th June at Lord’s Cricket Ground. APS have already enjoyed an exciting summer of cricket with Middlesex Cricket Festivals and Cup fixtures involving over forty cricketers in Years 7-9, but this was the icing on the caAfter arriving at 10.30am we started the day with a fielding circuit in the Lords Indoor Cricket School that got our cricket squad passing, catching, diving and laughing as they accumulated their scores to see if they could be crowned top school in Middlesex for most catches completed. A grand score of 1,547 set the bar high for others to follow. APS were not just complemented on the quality of their cricket skills throughout the day, but also their good behaviour and consideration for others.

Between the showers students were able to watch Middlesex CCC play Sussex CCC on day three of the Specsavers County Championship match whilst having lunch. But when they weren’t sat in the stand, they took part in an array of cricket activities around the ground, including a tour and museum visit. APS Students were lucky enough to have their picture taken with the Cricket World Cup Trophy and the Ashes. Capturelords3

We would like to thank Alex Hughes, Middlesex Cricket Development Officer who continues to encourage students at APS to grow their love of cricket with opportunities for all abilities from those with the talent to represent Middlesex at county level to those with additional needs who still get to represent their borough with Team Haringey at the London Youth Games Finals.
